Takami Mizukami

Influenced by his grandmother, who worked as a porcelain decorator at Hamamoto Hiroyoshi's Sanri Kiln, Mizukami spent much of his childhood at the workshop. From an early age, he became familiar with every aspect of ceramic production, even helping to load the kiln. His years of experience with ceramics, remarkable for someone of his age, are evident in the assured handling of both the brush and the potter's wheel. While following in the footsteps of his master, Mizukami continues to seek and shape his own distinctive voice. His future development as a ceramic artist will be one to watch.
