We are pleased to present another solo exhibition by Nakajo this year. Once again, he will be exhibiting works inspired by Ogata Kenzan, including faithful reinterpretations of Kenzan's masterpieces as well as new creations that employ the techniques associated with his work.We often hear the term utsushi, but what does it really mean? By recreating the masterpieces of the past, an artist deepens their understanding of the original work—its techniques, spirit, and aesthetic principles. Yet an utsushi is not simply a reproduction. Working within an established tradition, the artist imbues the piece with their own sensibility and expression, while the viewer is invited to discover the artist's interpretation and individuality through the work. This is what distinguishes an utsushi from a mere copy.We hope that keeping this perspective in mind will make your experience of the exhibition even more rewarding. The exhibition will feature a generous selection of tableware that captures the beauty and atmosphere of the changing seasons. We warmly invite you to visit.Details
