We are delighted to present another solo exhibition by Ryoko Suzuki this year.
There is something mysterious about painting. Even just a few lines drawn on a flat surface can move us. A richly detailed, meticulously composed picture can be wonderful, but when there is empty space, it invites the viewer to engage more actively with what they see.
Now, Ryoko’s works do have pictures on them, but they are ceramics. And when it comes to appreciating ceramics, I believe this kind of active engagement is especially important. White and blue cease to be simply two colors; a sense of depth emerges, and all sorts of worlds begin to unfold before us. And once you add food to the vessel, the possibilities become endless!
This is the kind of stimulation that lies within Ryoko’s distinctive surfaces and imagery.
This exhibition will once again feature a wide range of new works, including tea ware, flower vessels, sake ware, tableware, and sculptural pieces. We hope you will come and see them in person!
*The works featured in the digital catalog represent only a selection of the works included in the exhibition. Reservations for catalog works will be accepted until two days before the exhibition opens. If multiple customers request the same work, the purchaser will be selected by lottery. We will contact you on the day before the exhibition to let you know whether a lottery is necessary and, if so, the result.
Around the middle of the exhibition period, works from the exhibition will also become available through our online shop. You will be able to access them through the announcement on our homepage or via the URL provided below. We hope you will enjoy exploring the exhibition online as well.
