We are pleased to present a solo exhibition by Shintaro Uchimura.
Uchimura recently built a tea room at his home, and as one might expect, it is wonderful. There is sunken seating reminiscent of a horigotatsu, a window that beautifully frames the stream and scenery just outside, and a perfectly balanced use of space. His own approach to hospitality and the ways in which he makes the most of his fortunate surroundings are incorporated into the room with remarkable naturalness. Needless to say, it is an exceptionally comfortable place to be, and simply spending time there is exciting. He has taken the conditions and environment already present, considered them through the lens of his own ideas, and imagined and created a space capable of genuinely moving those who experience it.
This exhibition will once again focus on tea ceramics, accompanied by a generous selection of sake ware as well as vessels for food. We are already excited to see them. We warmly invite you to visit!
